Produced by Denis Freney / Campaign for Independent East Timor (CIET) in Sydney in the lead-up to and early years of the Indonesian occupation.
CIET analyses, statements and media releases were issued by Denis Freney on a regular basis from early 1975. They were printed on the ‘poor person’s’ printing machine, the mimeograph, and distributed within Australia and internationally to pro-Timor advocates, solidarity groups and news media.
The mimeographs were the principal means by which Freney distributed news coming from post-invasion East Timor through radio contact with the Fretilin-led resistance. They were largely superseded by East Timor News which was published by Freney/CIET from early 1977.
A partial set of the CIET mimeographs has been digitised; more will be added as they come to hand.
This initial set comes from the archives of Timor Information Service, Melbourne.
